New
Contest!
To celebrate the addition of
the other works page on the website
there is a new contest. To enter, watch both videos. Between Midnight,
February 3rd and Midnight, February 13th (p.s.t.), email
contest@jenny-o.com
and list as many movies as
you can from the videos. Contest ends when a) Somebody names
all videos used or, if nobody can guess them all, whoever guesses
the most, first, wins.
THE PRIZES:
One winner will receive a
copy of the chapbook, None of
This is Real, as well as a CD signed by musician A Thin
Man (aka Geoff
Baker).
I look forward to receiving
the entries! Remember, send them to
contest@jenny-o.com
After the contest is over I
will post a complete list of the movies. Watch this page and
see if you guessed them right.
Older contests:
"What is real?"
The “What is
real?” contest has officially ended. There were some really great
responses. Too many,
actually. The judges
had quite a difficult time picking winners. But after much arguing, hair
pulling, and full-nelsoning they finally picked. Here, for your enjoyment are
the winners:
Grand
Prize:
Deena
Warner
“I challenged
myself to define reality by finding things that aren't real.
However, I cannot prove there is no bigfoot or afterlife or magic or
flying purple people eater. Can you tell me something that isn't
real? Can you prove it? Until shown otherwise, I will maintain
my position that everything is real.”
Runners
Up:
John
Urbanick
“Reality, like
Truth, is a matter of perception and vantage and, quite
possibly, a trick of shadows and light”
Suzy
“Pain is real.
Pain can be physical or psychological. Laughter is real when it
makes you feel happy. Tears are real when you feel sad.
Stupidity and compassion are real just watch the interactions
among us and you can see it in action.”
Ray
Garton
“Reality is when
she tells you, "But in a restaurant, HE pays with a hundred
dollar bill, and I like that," and she expects you to accept
that as a reason why she loves him instead of you. - Reality is
when your father says, "You've always been useless." - Reality
is when you look in the mirror and see that you're no longer the
handsome young man you never were.”
Thanks to
everyone who entered.
I’ll be leaving the entries in the guestbook because I think
they deserve a second look.
I’d also like to give a huge thank you to my judges, Brian Knight, Donn Gash and
James Newman. I appreciate your hard work
(and I do not envy you having to choose).
Catch you folks
on the flipside,
Jen
